Do you guys remember a while back when Mila Kunis (Black Swan) accepted an offer to attend an event with a serviceman who asked her out Youtube? Not long after that Justin Timberlake was offered something similar from Corporal Kelsey De Santis to go to Instructor Battalion Marine Corps Ball in the same manner.
She was encouraged to do so by the fact that it was Timberlake who persuaded Kunis to accept her offer. And as luck would have it Timberlake kept his promise.
Now, I’m not a massive fan of his, he’s an average singer and sub-par actor but I admire the fact that he went through with it. When I heard about it all that time ago I wasn’t confident that he would because you know, celebrities rarely do.
But he surprised me and I’m sure he surprised Corporal Kelsey De Santis even more. He said online after the night was over that he was struck by how ‘humble and honest.’ she was and it humbled him to realise that it is people like her who ‘look after us and our freedom’.
I don’t really have much to say on this subject but I am pleased that he kept his promise and while it might not be as admirable as what troops are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan it is still admirable all the same.
